Description
As higher education leadership planned to resume in-person classes in fall 2021, interest in hybrid and flexible instruction spiked. As classrooms were outfitted with technology to support simultaneous remote and on-campus student participation, educational technologists and faculty developers wondered how to support faculty in recognizing the possibilities and limitations. In this panel, we will share how we fostered community for instructors eager to understand flexible teaching principles. We will discuss strategies for facilitating critical conversations about flexible teaching and take a futures-facing perspective on how faculty can continue to be galvanized to have sustained dialogue about the future of teaching with technology.

Outcomes
  • Understand strategies for building faculty community
  • Discuss effective practices for supporting flexible and hybrid teaching
  • Propose future approaches to galvanizing faculty involvement in campus academic technology decision-making
