Description
In the fall of 2020, three faculty co-teaching a cross-disciplinary winter quarter class of more than 250 students sent out a plea for help: they felt that the experience of teaching their very interactive, lecture/discussion/small group work class wouldn't be well-served by the usual Zoom experience. We stepped up, and built out a system that preserved small group capability in a large class and gave faculty a more dynamic space to teach from. In this talk, we'll discuss defining the faculty's need in a way that could be addressed by a technological solution, bending the available technology to our needs, creating the practices that organized the class, solving the tech problems, then streamlining it all for future use.

Outcomes
1. Understand the importance of addressing emotional human factors
2. Appreciate the power of the mix-minus technique
3. Become aware of the opportunities to simplify complex systems with OSC
