Description
Whether illness or natural disasters, every term has disruption. While faculty can plan on disruption, rarely can they anticipate when or how long. We will introduce the concept of a Disruption Plan, and how we supported faculty in developing one. To support inclusive design, we will introduce a Bandwidth/Immediacy Matrix developed by Daniel Stanford (2020). The matrix presents four zones that illustrate the intersections, from high to low, between bandwidth demands and immediacy, which can assist faculty selecting virtual interactions considerate of diverse students’ needs. At present, each zone includes general guidance. We will crowdsource specific strategies for each zone, to which could assist faculty in making inclusive design and facilitation decisions when disruption occurs.
