DescriptionAn innovative partnership between the Online Learning Pathways department and Disability Support Programs and Services at the San Diego Community College District, the Accessibility, Design & Usability Project is a collaboration to support compliance with Section 508 of the Rehab Act through enhanced accessibility, usability, and universal design within the District's Learning Management System (Canvas). The scope involves the procurement and implementation of accessibility evaluation software, funding staff to develop, market, and support faculty professional development that will infuse Universal Design principles as it relates to accessibility and useability. In addition, these tools will be integrated into the new online faculty training.
Outcomes- Be introduced to a project that brings together DSPS and DE to infuse a universal design lens to online course design as it relates to proactive accessibility; considering accessibility to benefit all students.
- Understand the key features of the project including planning, staffing, and funding.
- Learn how the project was marketed to ensure buy in by key stakeholders.
