Dr. Cynthia Alexander is the Department Chair and teaches in the Educational Technology program. She has developed and taught online courses for over 22 years. In addition, she has developed and conducted workshops and trainings in the areas of online accessibility, copyright, and classroom assessment techniques and also written online teaching certification courses for two colleges and worked with a task force to develop a training/resource course for California Community College distance education coordinators. Cynthia is part of the TED team providing captions using Amara for Ted.com videos.
Cynthia is a Quality Matters certified peer reviewer for both Higher Education and K-12 and for K-12 Publisher Resources and is QM certified in coordinator training. She has also completed both the California Community College Peer Online Course Review and the Accessibility Review trainings with certificates for both programs and holds an @ONE Online Teaching Certificate.
In 2016, Dr. Alexander was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award from the California Association for Postsecondary Education and Disability (CAPED).
